Community Presbyterian Church invites you to worship with us on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at 7th and F Street, or on Linda Young’s Facebook Live. Scriptures for the day are Exodus 33:12-23; Psalm 99; 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10; and Matthew 22:15-22.

Elder Jim Pruss will present the message based on Matthew 22:15-22. Matthew says: “Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap him in his words. They sent their disciples to him along with the Herodians. “Teacher,” they said, “we know you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren’t swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are.

Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?” But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, “You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me? Show me the coin used for paying the tax.” They brought him a denarius, and he asked them, “Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?” “Caesar’s,” they replied. Then he said to them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left him and went away.”

Sunday School classes are at 9:30 a.m. for all ages. We have a Tuesday Movie at 1:00 on Tuesdays; Bible Study and Choir practice on Wednesdays beginning at 1:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Look for a special free Friday night dinner in the near future (to be announced).

The Presbyterian Women are holding their annual bazaar on November 11, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A soup and pie lunch will be held between 11:00 a.m. at 1:00 p.m. There will be lots of good clean white elephants available for sale as well as some gently used clothing and shoes; and crafts made by the ladies. Della will have some of her lovely afghans and star pillows available; Linda will have some paintings, jewelry, and ornaments available for your gift giving. Priscilla sent some wreaths and ornaments home with Linda for sale at our bazaar. Come and See.
